Messaging products can grow quickly, so service boundaries and privacy expectations needed early attention.
Approach
I explored an API gateway, domain-based services, and a self-hosted direction.
Outcome
The project became a cleaner architecture experiment where domains could evolve separately.
Learned
Microservices are only useful when the boundaries are real, not when they are added for the aesthetic.
